Health problems such as pandemics, conflicts and non-communicable diseases are global challenges. We need experts to overcome these difficulties and prepare health organisations for the changes and advantages of globalisation.

In the Global Health study programme, you will learn how various factors influence global health, e.g. politics, society, business and the environment. Study the factors that influence global health: Government policies, population trends, wealth disparities, climate change and more.

The study programme provides a comprised training in health, social and political sciences. The program includes various opportunities such as international internships, period abroad, research and supervision by experienced professors. The main goal of the programme is to provide students with the skills and knowledge they need to become future leaders in global health.

Admission restriction The study programme is open admission.

  • You speak English and ideally another language.
  • You are interested in intercultural exchange and enjoy travelling to other countries.
  • You would like to get involved in socio-political issues.
  • You are interested in health as well as national and international political processes and their institutions.

It is a full-time studies programme on campus that extends over seven semesters and comprises 210 ECTS credits.

German students must complete a semester abroad in the 4th semester. International students have the option of completing a semester abroad or choosing from a variety of modules within the Fulda University of Applied Sciences or another university in Germany.

In the 5th and 6th semesters, all students take part in a cross-semester course project that gives them the opportunity to use their knowledge in practice.

The internship in the seventh semester with an organisation working in the field of global health is compulsory for all students.

A Bachelor's degree in Global Health prepares you for a career in international development, the health system or global enterprises. You can complete further university studies, e.g. a Master's in Public Health.

Possible fields of work for our graduates exist in various areas, including:

  • Multilateral health-related organisations (e.g. WHO, ILO, EU, World Bank etc.)
  • German and international government and health organisations (RKI, CDC, etc.)
  • Faith-based communities, charitable development organisations and non-governmental organisations globally (Caritas, Islamic Relief, Save the Children, etc.)
  • The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies
  • German and international consulting companies
  • Internationally active enterprises
  • Development organisations such as GIZ, USAID and FCDO work together to help countries around the world.

Students with international university entrance qualifications can submit their applications from 1 September 2024. Students with German university entrance qualifications can submit their applications from 1 December 2024. All applications for the summer semester 2025 must be submitted by 31 March 2025.
