Am I totally alone here? My baby is a big dribbler, I’d say a solid half ounce of milk spills out her moth during each feed (we’ve tried different bottles/nipples, checked for mouth issues..that’s just how she’s been since birth). Because of this her burp cloths and the collars of her shirts are always soaked. I do laundry basically every day so the longest a wet item stays wet is 2 days MAX and yet after a few washes everything starts to get these black spots which I assume is mold growing. I’m throwing away so many bibs/cloths/pjs and I don’t know why it’s happening. It never happened with my older two. I wash on warm, dry on low, use Branch Basics detergent. What am I doing wrong?

Our baby also used to spit up a lot. We would hang burp cloths/clothes over the side of the hamper to dry instead of just tossing into the bottom that way nothing stayed wet for very long. Then toss into the hamper once it was dried and we needed to hang the next thing on the side

If anything is wet, I hang it on the side till it’s dry before putting it in with the rest of the clothes. You could also try hanging them outside in the sun.

Agree with pp, don’t put into hamper if it’s wet. Hang over the side of it maybe and even give it a quick rinse if there is milk or spit up. This happened with my older sons clothing when I started him on solids, I would rinse the food off his clothes but not allow them to dry out properly.

I’d say give them a vinegar dip before washing. Vinegar is the only way I can the old raw chicken smell out of my babies burp clothes, so I always use it and I’ve never had a mold problem. It’s also likely your water where you live that’s contributing but white vinegar should help.
