🍊 Ingredients:

Christmas Punch Recipe (non alcoholic) (3)
  • Frozen orange juice concentrate – You’ll need one can of orange concentrate. Use your favorite brand.
  • Ginger ale – This adds a lovely sparkling fizz to the Christmas punch with a kick of warm ginger flavor. If you don’t enjoy Ginger ale, use Lemon-Lime soda or Sprite.
  • Cranberry juice – Use your favorite brand of cranberry juice. The cranberry juice gives this punch a lovely deep red hue and adds a tart flavor. You could also use pomegranate juice.
  • Pineapple juice – This adds sweetness to the punch to balance the tart cranberry juice.
  • Garnish – I’ve added whole cranberries, orange slices, and mint leaves to the Christmas punch as an attractive garnish. Feel free to add more or less of the garnish. When serving to young children, consider removing the cranberries as they could be a choking hazard.

Substitutions and Variations

  • Instead of ginger ale, you could use a lemon soda.
  • Mix up your garnishes with your favorite fruit slices. While I opted for orange slices, cranberries, and mint leaves, you could also use lemon and lime slices, pomegranate seeds, and a sprig of rosemary! You can also garnish with cinnamon sticks.

Recipe Tips for Christmas Punch

  • If you decide to serve this easyChristmas Punch in a pitcher then you’ll need one with a volume of 96 oz. for my recipe. You also have the option of easily doubling the quantity or reducing the ingredients for a smaller pitcher.
  • You can substitute any kind of fruit juices, as long as they are concentrate, in this recipe depending on your preference.
  • If you are using a 2-liter bottle of Ginger Ale, measure out the Ginger Ale using the empty can of juice concentrate. It’s a 1:1 substitute according to the instructions on the side of the concentrate can – we’re using Ginger Ale instead of water.
  • The cranberry juice is what gives this punch its deep red color. If you want a deeper red, simply add additional cranberry juice – the flavor is still just as delicious.

Fun Fact

It’s amazing to think that some of the very first punch drinks emerged as far back as the early 1600s, albeit very different from the punch recipes we enjoy today, no doubt. The Christmas punch bowl can be attributed to Indian tradition, derived from the Hindi word “panch” which means “five” – a concoction that was originally made with five main ingredients.

Sailors from the British East India Company took this concept back home with them in the early 1600s and it spread around the globe, adapted to what we consider a punch today.

Recipe FAQs

How Should I Store Christmas Punch?

This Christmas punch is best served immediately (since the Ginger Ale will lose its fizz) but if you do want to make it ahead of time, then simply leave out the ginger ale, ice cubes, and any fruit garnishes, and store in a pitcher covered tightly with plastic wrap in the refrigerator the day before serving.

When ready to serve your drinks, add the ginger ale and plenty ofice to the glasses (or large punch bowl) with cranberries, orange slices, and/or mint leaves for garnish. The ginger ale must only be added just prior to serving so that you get a fresh fizz to the punch.

How Should I Serve This Non-Alcoholic Christmas Punch?

A great thing about this Christmas Punch is the fact that it looks just as good whether served in glass jars or in clear punch bowls and/or pitchers. Consider keeping a bottle of vodka, rum, or whiskey alongside the punch bowl to allow your adult guests to opt for adding alcohol to their glasses. Add some Santa co*cktail sticks for your guests to mix their drinks.

If serving kids, consider adding a festive paper straw to the glass or cup for a bit of added fun!

Can I Make This Christmas Punch With Alcohol?

Yes, definitely! You can make this an alcoholic holiday punch recipe by adding in 1 cup of vodka or 1 cup of white rum to make an alcoholic Christmas punch. You may want to taste the punch to assess how weak or strong you want the punch to be and then adjust by either adding in more alcohol or diluting it with additional juice and ginger ale.

Making a boozy Christmas punch is a great option if you want to cater to the adults during the festive season. This is one delicious holiday party bubblydrink you can bring to all of your Christmas celebrations.
Spiced rum or whiskey are also great alcoholic additions to this drink.
